probably less stressful to just gift the money as at least then you won't have the worry of expecting to get money back but not actually getting any back

Anyone else think this thread is a wind up?

It’s very similar, in fact, almost word for word, to a post maybe 8/9 months ago, about exactly the same scenario, coincidence ? Possibly, windup ? maybe.

If this money is for consolidation, and is due to be cleared in 6 months, then it'd be safer to just help with the repayments for the few months.

I've 'lent' money to family members and never received a penny back; but then I didn't expect to. You will have to regard this 'loan' as a gift, and if eventually you do receive some of it back then that will be a bonus.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

  • Hi everyone,

I just wanted to drop back in to say a huge thank you for all of your responses.

I ultimately made the decision to decline sadly, and your advice was a big help in coming to that decision.

Thanks for coming back with your decision.
I hope that other family members come to the same choice.
