Had intended to take a carrier bag of unwanteds to the cs on Friday but didn't get there. It's a good 25min walk (uphill) and, whilst I don't mind going out in the cold if I'm wrapped up well and it's fine, I don't do rain/wind/snow.
Yes, it was snowing - bah! It now has a companion bag as I've managed to ferret out some more bits and bobs - a bag of decorative polished pebbles (where they came from I have no idea), a glass jam pot & lid, 2 books, a few knitting patterns plus all my cross-stitch charts and threads. I can't manage cross-stitch anymore (ageing eyes) but I've kept back some metallic threads as I'm going to use them doubled up with knitting yarn for the cuffs of a cardigan to make a sparkly finish. I'll try again to make it to the cs this week and will put the bags in the wally trolley but I'll be trying hard not to fill it up with goodies for the return journey.
There are a couple of jobs on the mending list for this week, one of which is sewing on the buttons on DH's leather coat and I'm not looking forward to doing it. They haven't come off yet but are precariously loose so I shall have to get-round-tuit.
Not sure how much will get done this week as DH's younger brother is in hospital, ICU, and we may well be summoned at any timeso it's probably wise not to plan too much in advance.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -

MadamMim2013 (one of my most favourite characters EVER!) and Silvasava there's been a plot twist today.
DOH comes bounding up the stairs (I knew something was up as he NEVER runs) saying that the greenhouse we missed out on last week on FB had called (well the owner anyway lol) to say the buyer had changed his mind. The greenhouse was on the same allotment site as us. He goes off to see it as I am busy.:):):)
The seller was our Leek man - apparently he has 2 separate plots and can no longer maintain them due to medical reasons. So we have to move his green house from his other plot over to ours. So weird. As DOH was so nice he said that we could have everything that's left including the chicken wire and fence posts that he was planning on taking. However sadly he does still want his leeks.
He said that if we had acquired his other plot we wouldn't need to move the greenhouse but he did say that our plot is the better of the two in terms of soil and growing potential. The greenhouse is approximately 50 metres from ours so we are planning to take out what glass hasn't been glued in and a team of us will carry it intact to the new site. We will have to take down the front fence but as the guy put it up originally, he said that he will show us how to easily do this (so we'll also know for future reference).
Do you think that is Karma for NOT taking his leeks. I like to think so as it was really hard to resist as they look SOOOOO good. xxx:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Definitely Karma MEP!!! If he thinks your plot has better soil and growing potential get those leeks started off asap! They're an easy crop to grow and a useful veg. Acquiring the greenhouse is definitely an MMM win
well done!!

I have painful thumbs, wrists and upper part of the hands at the moment (where the hand joins the wrist, on the back of the hand) and have been looking for solutions. The gp suggested a deepheat cream, and that helps for a while, but I was looking for something more permanent. Then, yesterday, dd2 popped her toes through both socks of a pair, and I found my solution! I have cut the toe part of both socks, and cut a small hole in the heel, where my thumb can go through. They fit!
It's not quite warm enough, so I will see if we have any woollen or sports socks that I can cut up. I'm really pleased with this!Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
My son and husband repaired a slipped tile on the side of the house.
I am picking up a book I ordered from the library. It costs 70p to order a book. Cheaper than buying it on ebay or Amazo*. Also I have decided to set myself a challenge... to stop ordering items from Amazon or Ebay (except for birthdays presents for family!) for hobbies, for a year! This would force me to use up what I have!0
