Huge thanks to both Droopsnout and Jules for their dedication in doing the crosswords for us all over the years. :T :T
Obviously PB are perfectly entitled to change things as they please, but it would have been nice if PB had at least put a simple message on the crossword page saying it was no longer a competition given how long it's been running! (even including a thanks to it's members for participating too!) May sound weird perhaps, but it's the simple stuff like this that would go a long way in being able to put faith and trust in them and that PB does recognise it's members who regularly participate in long running features like this. I may be more inclined to spend more through partners too if I felt my daily visits to their site was appreciated and valued! Through years of experience of working in retails and service industries, the first rule was to acknowledge customers very existence whether they bought anything or not - basically, everyone who stepped through the door was a potential customer and was treated courteously and honestly in a bid to build the trust with them. Regular customers were always told of changes coming/happening that we thought they'd want to know, likewise, special offers and deals. Same meat, different gravy in my book!
I read a thread on the forum last night regarding the CT's situation and thought the PB staff attitude stunk with their reply. In essence, I read it to be saying that members shouldn't complain about lack of freebies as PB are a business who's there to make money. Quite frankly, it annoyed me - talk about stating the obvious! As an old piggy, the days of points galore are a wonderful memory though it's obvious they can't give away points like that any more with the volume of members now. Their service was far better then and Darragh's frequent visits to this thread was fantastic too. It's not so much the ever decreasing freebies that bugs me, but PB attitude and service towards it's members over problems and just reading this thread shows it time and time again.
I've been a lucky piggy having won the crossword twice, 2 quizzes as well as competitions and am very grateful but am now beginning to wonder if I want to give time to them anymore with the overall picture.
Sorry for the long moan .... probably first and last one ...0 -
Thanks, bluedog.
Every day, I send an email to 12 people with all the day's answers in. I think it's coming to an end now. I've done it for probably 18 months, and have recommended friends and relatives to join PB.
OK, it was nice to think the crossword might bring in 2000 points, but with the reduction in points that there has been pretty steadily over the last two years, I'm not at all sure that PB is any longer worth the time I spend on it currently. The end of the crossword reward is perhaps the straw that broke the camel's back.
That doesn't mean I will be ignoring PB. After all, free money is free money. But I shan't be spending as long on the site, doing the crossword, posting emails, entertaining funnyguy, or any of the other things that have been based on PB.
I'll still be clicking for free dosh. So it's very much their loss. And I suspect I'm not alone.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

So did they confirm that the crossword prize had ended?
I just pointed out that it never said 2000 points now.0 -

I made an order with Amazon on the 18th Dec... has anyone who ordered around the same time received their points yet? Just wondering, as I know it says it can take up to 6-weeks to receive them
I made an order with them on the 9th December, and again on the 24th December. Not received points for either of those orders yet, they'll probably say it's because they haven't had the December file yet.
On the other hand, knowing pigsback as we do, they may just never show up and we'll end up having to chase and chase and chase :rolleyes:0 -

I've been emailing PB about the missing points, I finally got a response and they said that I must be on the December file even though I ordered on the 10/11/07 and then the order was depatched on 11/11/07 so that doesn't really make a lot of sense, I could understand if I'd ordered near December but it was at the beginning of November!
So I've now been waiting for exactly 2 months... You're lucky they gave you 100pp for the "inconvenience", I've had to constantly chase them for points and never had so much as 1pp for the "inconvenience"!**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D
