Making Time to Stand and Stare

Options
Hi,
I made a diary last year which I lost my way with pretty quickly so with the new year fast approaching I am having another go.
I am not in debt but feel that I have very little to prevent me from becoming as such if life were to throw up anything such as a job loss or a cut to tax credits etc. It is just me and a young child so putting some safety measures in place is key. I am fairly good with money but could definitely do better and I do have a habit of overspending on items such as clothes and food shopping. I also seem to have fallen into living a fairly fast paced life so its a bit of a treadmill at times whereby life seems to whip past week by week and my body has been reacting badly to this as I'm not really a fast paced gal!
My aims for 2019 is to budget £100 -£120 a month for food and household ( we are a veggie household so should be more than enough) I am not buying any new clothes for myself in 2019 as I have more than enough and I'm aiming for any non essential purchases to be conscious rather than impulsive and regretful! I will save minimum of £200 towards my emergency fund and I will also try to track my spending (in a very basic fashion) finally and most importantly I want to slow things down, simplify and manage my stress a little better so I can feel physically well again and have a healthy and happy 2019

  • No spend today which I'm pleased about. Nye is going to be spent very low key, just myself and the small one with a frozen pizza which is a branded one that I got on special offer a few weeks back, some hm wedges with apple crumble and ice cream for afters. We will be enjoying this all picnic style in front of the Tv which the small one is super excited about as usually I make us sit at the table (tv-less) and will follow it with a game of farmyard dominoes ha. I'm lucky that little one still finds such things a 'treat ( let's see how long I can get away with that for!)
  • 80p so not quite a no spend. We went to one of our local county parks and it's quite a trek so clocked up 14000 steps on the pedometer which I feel better for. The day itself didn't actually go to plan as the playground was closed and the 80p I spent on a loaf of bread, some to go to the ducks resulted in a swarm of seagulls engulfing us which little one was not happy about. We ate our picnic and left, but it's been quite a chilled out day and low cost!
  • £15 on food shopping (mostly fruit and veg) I think I can make this stretch for 2 weeks as have lots of staples to use up and unidentified frozen meals floating around the freezer
£7.50 on 2 thankyou cards and a book of 12 second class stamps
£13 on a new clothes horse as the leg of mine decided to snap off :(

Vegetable crumble for tea to use up the rest of the Xmas parsnips plus rice pudding for afters from the freezer to create a bit of space
