I'm confused that you say you work in HR yet feel the need to come to a public forum to ask about this issue.
How would you deal with an employee approaching you with the same issue ??

HR is a wide and varied field. Smaller employers may have a small team dealing with everything but at larger employers roles and departments are often much more specific.

How comforting that someone can work in HR in healthcare without the use of any punctuation at all. What happened to this country?
  • Thank you all for your advice and support, and I would just like to say to Jamolew HR in healthcare is huge with a multitude and varied raft of roles not all in generalist HR. And to robatwork when you are typing on a phone and you need advice pretty imminently the last thing on your mind is checking punctuation, but thank you for your unhelpful comments, they were extremely supportive whilst I am going through this stressful situation at work.

I am recently going through a restructure where my employer has offered me a suitable alternative employment and has informed me that as the job is 80% the same that I am being slotted in.

However there are a number of issues I have raised throughout consultation and after.

Number 1, the newly created role they are slotting me into is basically an amalgamation of my job and another department mangers job who has left on voluntary redundancy.

Number 2 I have asked if the job has been reviewed as I have benchmarked similar roles in similar organisations and the pay grade is higher.

The role is not 80% the same as it includes a vast number of additional responsibilities and they are paying me the same amount.

Can anybody help me as I am raising this with my managers and directors and they are ignoring my questions and have sent me an email asking me to accept slotting in

I've edited the OP to make it easier to read. The point about lack of punctuation was valid, although in my opinion at least, unhelpful in the was it was expressed.

Following a round of redundancies it is commonplace for roles to be amalgamated, as one of the basic reasons for redundancy is to reduce the headcount. Reducing headcount doesn't mean the work goes away.

Benchmarking against other industries or business sectors really doesn't make any difference. The company decides what they are going to pay for the role.

How has the company worked out that the job is 80% the same? If as an example, they are saying the job is still 70% HR and 30% other work, they may well be correct in their assessment. There may be technical areas of HR which you don't currently cover, but they are still HR responsibilities.

All you can do is take your concerns to the company and see what the response is. It seems they are not offering you redundancy so your options would seem to be limited.
