Hi all,
Hope it’s ok to start this type of thread here!
I am a couple of months away from being debt free and my goal for 2019 is to save as much as possible for a house deposit. We currently have £19000 in savings, my hubby has a limited company and has taken 6 months of training get another trade under his belt. In the long run this will be very beneficial but his accounts for the last year don’t look great and profits have dropped so we can only get a mortgage for half of what we would actually need. We have 3 kids so ideally would like to jump straight in at the deep end a buy a 4 bed (we live down south so property is very expensive)
Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to have my own little corner on this site to hopefully give me the motivation to save, save, save!

So far in 2019 I’ve spent £20 on a gift voucher for nieces birthday next Sunday. Also going to look at a shared ownership property tomorrow where we hopefully will be able to purchase 50% straight away. If we like the house tomorrow we will be pulling the purse strings very tight. So far since Christmas we have cancelled sky saving £38 a month, Contact lenses saving £26, saved £6 a month changing boys mobile tariffs, paid final car loan now freeing up £180.10 a month and paid final mattress payment freeing up £48 a month. That’s a total of £299.10! Can’t believe we will have that much extra each month to put towards buying a home or put into savings. Really pleased.
Changed up some money we had been saving in a loose change pot and there was £31 in there so putting that with the £50 we got for Christmas as that will come in handy if we decide to go further with the house tomorrow.Savings in 2019 £0
