So yes, £74 should have been enough........
........didn't quite go as planned!!
Shopping was £45, so very much under usual budget so that most definitely was a win, then remembered I had nearly forgotten a birthday which I had to get a gift which amounted to £30 in total (card, wrap etc) so already in the minus £1 stakes - follow that up with DD2 being really poorly and doing top up shops and take out to try to tempt her to eat something & I nearly don't want to look at my bank balance.....
....add in a few other unexpected but needed expenses (college books, prescription costs & other meds) and now I really don't want to look!!!!
of course I will but will need to adjust the following 2 weeks weekly spend amount to accommodate the overspend.
Sales are not helping as not much activity on the bay of E over the weekend, so that has added a sum total of £0 to the overspend pot - more to list so will get on with that!!
At least the conversation with Sky amounted to them dropping my bill by £17 a month !!!
Off to check the bank.....0 -
Hmmm, not sure how that happened but I seem to have blinked and lost 5 months!!
Time sure does fly
I'm kinda staying on a track, albeit a little winding at times & heads off via the scenic route on occasions.......
Saving is painfully slow as small steps towards a more mindful spending approach is very much a work in progress, baby steps as it's hard changing a habit of a lifetime & being conditioned early on that credit was great its been a tough learning curve to shed the debt and be patient - Patience & compulsive spending really do not go hand in hand.
I'm trying to visualise every pound in the savings account as another brick paid for in my house & have a book of squared paper which I'm ticking off a square for every £1 - it's going to take many, many pages of many books to get to the figure I need but it feels as though I'm being proactive & using a visual technique to see the progress - it's worked so far.
So a round up of this week - Catalogue bill is still £850, so chipping away at that too - any online sales I split between adding to the 'Brick' fund or paying bits off the catalogue - the quicker the catalogue debt is paid the more I can add to the savings.
Started back with baying over the last few weeks, clearing house for the move is helpful and I've realised every pound does count & the effort is worthwhile & rather than seeing proceeds as 'extra' money to spend it now gets banked once fees have been paid (I do this after every couple of sales to prevent a large monthly bill)
Food shopping is now completely online for main shop and I try not to pop out for top up shops too often & I don't take kids (or else the cost instantly doubles!! - I just can't be mean and say no!!)
Few things listed online, trying to add a couple a day & lower prices until they're sold if hanging around for a while or take off to the charity shop as it's equally as important to clear the house as well as raise some funds.
Onwards and upwards!!0
