hi im trying to work out this council tax rebanding to see if i can claim any money back.....
we are in a band B as is most of the street and we paid £95000 for house in june 2004 ( ex council house ) if i use these figures it comes up as
A property located in UK which was valued at £95000 in Q2 of 2004, would be worth approximately £35462 in Q2 of 1991. This is equivalent to a change of -62.67%.
but that includes our 30% council discount so if i use these figures

A property located in UK which was valued at £125000 in Q2 of 2004, would be worth approximately £46660 in Q2 of 1991. This is equivalent to a change of -62.67%.
im stuck does anyone know how to figure it out im really stumped

Hi Emma,
You have to value the house as if it was for sale on the open market, ie excluding discounts. That would put you fairly and squarely in band B I'm afraid.
If you want to look further you can try and find the value of your house in 1991 by looking back through the local papers, or using a more region specific price calculator, but given that you are closer to the top end of the band using your figs, and the other properties are the same band, it is probably correct.
Are any of the other properties the same as yours AND band A?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
