I have found that allowances are very generous. I was allowed 470 for the groceries including meals at work and toiletries.

If you pay for a new TV licence by direct debit, the first 6 months they charge you double (so you pay for a year). This is held for ever more as a kind of bond against the next year's licence - quite ridiculous.0

I totally agree about the ridiculous nature of buying a tv licence monthly so have gone to annual payment0
