Happy new kitchen! :T the kitchen going in was my favourite part of our house renovation :rotfl:
Your overpayments are really coming along! Good on you for figuring out matched betting :money:

Thanks :). It's my birthday tomorrow, but unfortunately current state of the kitchen is not favourable! Wall units are all off (and contents all over the living room :o), and tiles are off. Husband is paining as I speak, and new cupboards can hopefully go up very soon. We're getting a hand to take the extractor down as electric needs sorting, but we can put some cupboards up in the meantime. Once we've done that at least half the boxes of new units will be gone and things will be slightly more normal, then we can tackle the lower half.

Week was a bit of a write off. Started badly when my car wouldn't start (dead battery because I seldom use it, though it had started fine when I tried it on the Thursday) and it was too early to knock for neighbour so had to get train to work. That was nearly £18 for an 8 mile trip and was over an hour each way as we're nearly the end of the line. East Croydon isn't my favourite place on a Monday morning.... For context car is 20 mins and far cheaper. I will get rid of it once husband's mum has passed and I can guarantee I can car share with him because there's really no point in me having my own car with us working in the same building.

On Thursday night bunny stopped eating so I was awake all night either checking on her or worrying she wouldn't make it. Fortunately (sort of) it isn't the first time this has happened and I had pain killers, appetite stimulant and force feed so I managed to get her better and evade £160 emergency vet consultation. I would have taken her if need be and called them a couple of times, but they did say they would only do what I had already done. Had to take her first thing on Friday to get checked and she is okay but having her teeth done Wednesday which will be £70-80ish but is an expected expense as she has them done every 9or so months.

On Saturday she was joined by my sister's similar aged boy. It's so cute seeing them together.

Financially I have no idea what is going on really :rotfl:. Think I need an overpayment of £250 to get into 282's but am doubtful I will make that now because of vet bills. Will see! Unfortunately football season is coming to an end so I won't get much more from matched betting over summer.

Anyway, I had better go and see what I can sort dinner wise :T.

After saying I wouldn't get much more from MB I managed to make £40 last night, though I've decided that will offset the drill I had to buy yesterday so still neutral, but I suppose in the long run it frees up another £40 which will likely turn into an overpayment.

Now I'm off to shower, try to clean up the house a bit and build some cupboards. Lucky me lol.

I've just updated forecast 2026 for the month of April :rotfl:. It's a bit of a pain because we're paid in the middle of the month and the app I use to record our spending only works on the calendar month, so I'm using the figures from there and going by that instead of our actual pay month.

I've made another £65ish from matched betting in the last couple of days. Without going into detail you place a bet for and against an outcome, so you win one and lose the other. When you win the bet against an outcome the money goes into an exchange. The exchange needs to have money in it to cover the bet if it loses, so some of the winnings end up in there (this is why I don't overpay all of the winnings as it's a bit swings and roundabouts and some money needs to stay in the exchange). I still have plenty of sign ups to do so I'll attempt more in August when the football returns.

Overpayments are only £52 so far this calendar month as I'm being careful not to leave us short of cash, though I'm not sure there will be a lot left anyway to be honest.

My sister cut and dyed my hair for my birthday which is great as it had got so long it was driving me mad. She usually does that for my birthday as she is trained in hairdressing and I don't really want presents as such, plus it saves us both money :D.

Took girl bunny to vets yesterday to have her dental. It's usually £80 but they gave me an estimate of £160 so I was a bit . The nurse checked for me and when I came to collect her bill was £101 which whilst more than anticipated was more acceptable. It's a shame but I think since it became part of the Medivet chain a few years ago it's all about the profit...

Also thanks Bach for telling me about Prolific. I'm getting on pretty well with it and have made a bit extra. If I can make £5 a week from that, including interest I can save about £500 on the mortgage each year.

Am sadly still waiting on drill so kitchen progress is slow, but I'm hoping it will arrive in time for the weekend so we can get all of the wall units up. I'm having a mad defrosting session at the moment so I can stick the slow cooker on tomorrow. The positive is I'm not really buying food at the moment as I have nowhere to put it away :o.

I've also just noticed that since we got the mortgage we've reduced it by 6k. We only started overpaying at the end of March so I'm really pleased wit that. This is my overpayment tracker if you're really bored :Dhttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZDOFRp0d8_cc9tSAUlPUolGiF0gwIbE_JlDubrOsw3w/edit?usp=sharing

Quick payday update... Another £1000 overpaid today along with £117.10 left in current accounts yesterday.

Girl bunny went on hunger strike again so had to take her to vet again (£40 down but bun doing okay now), and we've got husband's car booked in for timing belt change next week (£360) which whilst expensive is necessary so not complaining too much.

Not sure what we can manage in overpayment terms as we also need to buy me a flight to Scotland (work paying for husband's as he has a presentation to do there ) but we will see. Am slowly edging toward 270's :j

Hello I wondered if you could advise me. My daughter is also on my mortgage, but does not live with me. Owns her own house but is now selling. She is purchasing another house and been told she has two pay stamp duty on my house as well as hers, having to pay an extra £11,000. Because she's on the mortgage they are classing it as her having two properties. Any advise, I am out of my mind with worry.

I have my daughter on my mortgage, so I could extent the years paying back. My daughter owns her own property that she is now selling and purchasing another one. She has been told, because she's on my mortgage, she has to pay stamp duty on my property as well as it's classed as her owning two properties. This is an extra £11,000 any advice as I am so stressed, I have all ready paid stamp duty on my property when I bought it.

    Morning Nina12,
You do not have to pay the higher rate of stamp duty on your main residence when you sell it and buy another. I have put a link for you to check out.

    Morning Nichelette,
Sounds like you overpayments are going great and it is good to hear the girl bunny is ok. Better safe than sorry.

Glad to hear girl bunny is a bit better. I was surprised to read that bunnies have hunger strikes! How worrying :(

Your OPs are going really well. Your spreadsheet is very detailed!

    Hi Nina,

This is correct. My issue was that I would have had to pay additional stamp duty if I couldn't get off my dads mortgage as I didn't have my 'own home' to 'dispose of' when I moved as I was only on his mortgage. Unfortunately I had to pay regular stamp duty instead of the first time buyer nil as I had legally but not practically owned a house. I think your daughter should be fine as she will only qualify for regular stamp duty if she sells her own home when she moves.

Bunnies are the (enter expletive of choice) of the pet world. I love her so much but honestly they are disaster pets!

I think once the bunnies are no longer with us I'll go with a cat or something. I can't deal with being up all night and then having to go to work! It's not even like having a baby and getting rubbish sleep because at least with a baby you can sleep when they aren't up. With the bunnies I stress so much they won't make it through the night there is no chance of sleep :o.

Kitchen is also a disaster. We've been given a corner unit to fit around a waste pipe, but once we have cut the waste pipe gap out the corner unit would be joined by about 1cm of chipboard and would lose all structural integrity. Can't understand why we weren't given 2 300mm units like the ones we took out. Had a brainwave of using the old carcuses but that was a fail as our old ones are 750mm tall and not 900mm like the new ones so working on a solution to that.

Don't think I mentioned it before but we are waiting on a cheque for £250 from our old housing association for overpaid rent. This is from mid Feb when we moved out. I've had to write to our MP as they were completely ignoring us (including our notice to leave the flat). They eventually sent a cheque... to our old flat :rotfl:. You couldn't write it!

So here we are waiting still.

In case you wonder, the HA flat was given to my husband 4 years ago when he wasn't earning much above min wage and we didn't live together. He was very lucky to get social housing in the south east and worked hard to double his income. We loved that flat, and cheaper rent and stability did help us to save our deposit once we got married. I hope we used it to better ourselves and also hope it is now helping someone else to do the same <3.
