Bit Coin

Decided to join the HPC goons and buy my first Bit Coins yesterday. If this electronically printable money works out I won’t let these goons get the jump on me to buy my property off me for peanuts. I will chart the price movements over the next year. All bases covered.

Good luck, I have to say though that I would never speculate on something so volatile and that also provided no yield. What % of your portfolio have you 'invested' (gambled)?

  • Thanks. I bought just over 3 bit coins for £10,000 that I had sitting around. Just doing it as a bit of fun and to learn something new. For me the price of bit coin to crash 85% is a good entry point now on a long term risk. Not bothered about losing it all as I’ve still got my BTL’s. I admit it’s a long shot.

No doubt it will provide some additional interest/entertainment.

I bought some too a few days ago. Partly because in my mind I was buying it off a weeping teenager who bought it for four times the price with all their savings, and this thought filled me with glee.

But I suspect its money down the drain.

Can you explain that? You can "learn something new" just by watching it, no need to buy it.

It may indeed rise though i think the odds of that are less than the amount it would rise which makes it a poor bet, eg lets say it might rise 10 fold, but the odds of that are probably 100 to 1 against. = poor bet.
One reason why this is so would be, anyone [STRIKE]investing[/STRIKE] gambling now is looking at history to repeat itself, but they will be pulling out before it reaches the peak to consolidate their gains and so any rises will be more self limiting than before when no one knew where the rocket was heading (for a burn out on re-entry it seems)

My prediction: I suspect you won't lose it all but will probably lose around 50% if you're planning on holding long term. So a £5k loss which may make you miffed but not something you are likely to lose any sleep over.

  • Why falling knife? I bought in at -85% peak price. My £10K is pocket change left for entertainment and educational purposes. Regarding, learn something new, I have always found that to get the most out of any situation you need to be 110% invested. I will move and play around with my Bit Coins to see what advantages financially I can progress. Sitting on the outside looking in would not no that not motivate me. Let’s see what happens.

I remember looking at them when they were £800 each and thinking that was mental. Could have made a fortune selling them at £20k peak or even now at £3k. Few people would have guessed that when they trading for £20 each.
