Thanks for looking guys,
DrSpendLittle your right about that student loans get me every year ☹️0 -
I didn't get a Christmas bonus this year, they haven't let us know we won't be getting one either.
Listen to the tax man's a good web site. It may be that your bonus has knocked you into the higher band tax rate for the month so you've paid more tax and NI.0 -

I work for one of the largest veterinary groups in the UK, and for the past 8 years my Christmas bonus has consisted of a £25 shopping voucher.
It shouldn’t happen to a vet lol.
I'm a nurse, never got more than a £10 voucher and many years just a night shift! :rotfl:
We're clearly in the wrong businesses.0 -
Lol I work for Local Government- not even a tub of sweets! Not that I'm jealous, I am genuinely curious, sorry, nosey, at what others do for a living!0

Bah humbug nobody needs the forum police thanks!0 -
I got a Xmas bonus of £1000 / wte after tax / NI , it was paid the same to all employees so ultimately a much greater percentage of a lower paid employees salary than the higher paid. Mighty confusing payslip as they wanted to make sure we got the amount after tax / NI so the actual amount was different for everyone to take account of assorted tax codes etc0

My firm used to give the majority of the year’s pay as a discretionary bonus at year-end. It allowed them to share out the profits in a good year but not need to lay people off in a bad one.
EU rules have banned this now, so we’ve lost a lot of the flexibility.
The public always seemed outraged at the amounts involved, too, especially those who would normally be the first to advocate workers keeping a greater share of the value of their labour.0 -
