Whtch is the correct payment ?

Good evening
Can you help me with a calculation please :)

I have a contact for 55 hour working week
You will be available to work 55 hours per week
and I have 45min unpaid break
You are entitled to a 45 minute unpaid lunch break per day
Work on shifts - 4 on 4 off

I need to know what is the hourly payment
Am I paid higher hourly payment due to the unpaid lunch time, let's say £10/h x 52hrs = £520/week
or it's more like £9.45 x 55hrs = £520/week

I will be very thankful, if someone can help.

Regards
Aiako

    Impossible to say.

    I’d guess 9.45

You are working 55 hours per week so the hourly rate is the weekly amount divided by 55. The unpaid break doesn't come into the calculation. Unpaid being the relevant point.

If you are working 4 on 4 off you are not doing either 52 or 55 hours a week.

We also don’t know whether you are doing 13 hrs a shift or 13hrs 45 mins or 14hrs 30 mins a shift.

What does your contract and pay slip say your hourly rate is?

Why do you need to know the hourly payment - is there a particular reason?
  • What work do you do..is it Warehouse/Factory type work or security work.

    I work 4 days x 12 hrs = 48hrs , but I can stay late - no overtime, due to the 55 hrs contract.
    According to the payslip rate is £9.45 x 55hrs = £520/week

When I'm paid overtime when I do extra days , if I don't know what is the right way to calculate the hourly payment , I can't know if my overtime rate the correct or not .

4 x12 hours on followed by 4 days off is 42 hours a week. if you get 45 mins off each shift its 39.375 hours a week.

Overtime can be paid at different rates according to your contract. Many NMW hospitality jobs have single pay for overtime, traditional manufacturing jobs might be 1.5 times normal rate or double time for night/ sunday/ BHs. Some places have a sliding scale according to needs/ demands. Sounds like your job falls into the latter category. It can be very complicated to work out.

    4 on 4 off is a 3.5 day week.

Being available for 55hrs a week is not the same as a contract to be paid for 55hrs
