Self certificate

I've just trapped a nerve in my back in alot of pain I'm holiday until this Monday not due back into work till Thursday can I put in a self certificate as of Monday even if I'm not due into work till day 4 of the working week.? I've looked on line and can't for the life of me find an answer. I know days off count with off on the sick. But do they count when your days off are before the days you are due to work. 7 days would take me till week on Monday. Can anyone help. Or do I have to take it from the day I'm due to work meaning Thursday I know I'm unlikely to be fit for work.

I know that if I am sick while I'm on holiday and want to have those days treated as sick then I have to follow my employer's reporting procedure and phone in. So I'd phone and ask your employer!

I'd not be saying anything until the day before you're due back at work. You don't know how things will change from now till then.

You're not obliged to call the employer now because reasonably as I put earlier things change, what maybe painful now may have eased sufficiantly by thursday

If you want the days between now and Thursday to be counted as sick leave not holiday, you probably have to call in now.

If you are happy to us the days as holiday and accept that you have been unwell on your own time, then call in when you are due to work (or, depending on what arrangements are for cover, the day before to give your boss time to arrange to cover you!)
