Car insurance for business use

Hello,

We require business class one on your car insurance to be able to claim back mileage for work however work won't compensate us for the difference in cost. Would we be able to claim the difference between Social domestic, pleasure and commuting and business class one?

Thanks

Gary

  • Most insurers don't charge for it unless your in the Taxi business or similar. Phone around for quotes. I know mine (D Line) didn't. but you have to tell them!

I don't think any tax relief would be available on this. Motor insurance is part of the normal running costs of the car and therefore should be included in the normal approved mileage rates (40p first 10,000 miles, then 25p).
