We have a climate emergency and need to re-think investing strategies to avoid sectors that are part of the problem such as oil & gas and embrace climate-friendly options such as renewable energy.

The last paragraph reads:
"We will only launch the pension when it's ready and fully tested, but will provide a further update in 2019, when we hope to confirm the launch date."
So they *hope* to *announce* the launch date sometime between the beginning and end of 2019. That doesn't tell us anything

It does at least confirm it will be a SIPP, contrary to some suggestions of other types of vehicle. But nothing on the date, as you say.0

So that's a really promising update that omits to say "sorry, it won't be in 2018 as we previously announced". It doesn't even say it will happen in 2019. They are also keeping tight on pricing. My guess is a 0.20% platform fee due to the additional activities in running a pension compared to an ISA or GIA.0

That is a shame as the alternatives would have offered potentially better FSCS protection.
It also still throws into question why they need it to be a SIPP when it's only offering a couple of dozen investments (more in line with a stakeholder pension). And if they are offering a SIPP, why do they need FNZ to build a new pension contract when the FNZ software already offers SIPP functionality. So they *hope* to *announce* the launch date sometime between the beginning and end of 2019. FNZ have had their hands full dealing with the replatforms and OMW are moving to FNZ in Spring. So, I wonder if this has as much to do with booking resources as well as wanting a non-standard product not currently coded for.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I wonder if Vanguard is thinking about becoming a fuller service UK platform and the SIPP is just a step along the way. My US account has banking functionality and also a brokerage service where I can buy any US traded fund, stock or bond. Of course the size of Vanguard US makes this possible, but I imagine they have a long term growth strategy for the UK and Europe too.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”0

Vanguard today finally bothered to email the above article link to people like myself who registered an interest.0
