Please help! Settlement agreement proposal on maternity leave

Hello

I would really appreciate some advice on where I stand and what to do,

I am currently on maternity leave due to return to work on 21/01/19, i contacted my manager in august 18 to get organised with my return so i could get a childminder etc.

My manager replied a month later asking which days/hours i wanted for my return in jan. I replied with a guideline but was open for further discussion as nothingn was set in stone.

I didnt hear anything back for 2.5 months and this week i have been asked to attend a meeting to discuss a settlement agreement as my department does not have as much work on as they’d hoped.

However no one else has been made redundant and the person hired when I was leaving seems to have taken over my role.

I am not sure where to go from here as I know I would still have a secure job there if i hadnt gone on maternity leave so this feels like maternity discrimination.

Would love to hear any thoughts and advice on this thank you so much x

Are they not offering you your old job?

It sounds like you wanted to change your old jobs hours? Or have I read wrong?

I'd give ACAS a ring on Monday and talk it through with them: http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2042
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

    I'd get proper legal advice.

  • Hi thanks for your replies,
They asked which hours i wanted to do when i return in jan so i said part time 3 days a week would be good but i am open for discussion to agree to something that works for both of us. They didnt reply to that and have not offered me my old job back or something else on the same level/pay. The only thing i have heard is that ‘’they cant talk about it much but our department does not have as much work as it used to’’ and then i received the letter for the settlement agreement meeting
