I am appealing to thos North of the Border for help in making some traditional mutton Scotch Pies.
My dad craves these pies and I would love to make him some for when we visit near Christmas but I don't want to make a cardinal sin and get the recipe wrong so does anyone have a tried and tested traditional family recipe that they would be prepared to divulge to me
Any help appreciated :T

I don't actually know any body that makes their own pies, and "the best" one can often be down to what you were brought up with. But I did google and this recipe looks quite good http://www.rampantscotland.com/recipes/blrecipe_scotchpie.htm
It's a good site for any scottish recipes, but then most scottish recipes vary from one family to the next. Start a war in scotland...just ask "what do you put in your stovies?" Typically 'burgers use corned beef, 'weegies use sausages, traditionalists use mutton. It just depends what your mother could afford!
Right rant over. Good luck with the pies.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
