Upwork freelancing - any hints?

Hi there
At the third attempt I finally got my profile accepted by Upwork. Looking online it seems that while it's a better starting point than some freelance sites, it still returns its fair share of gripes and complaints.
Anyone got any general tips for getting started and a few projects under my belt? I've got fairly varied digital marketing skills and have set my price at 25 USD (the default currency). I'm aware I might have to be flexible with this.
