I noticed that an old BT telephone directory could be re-cycled into an address book...... all you need do is cross out everyone you don’t know.

That goes down as one of those things in life you can never "un see". :(

What I've done with plastic milkbottles in the past is cut the tops off, keeping the handle intact - then you can get the rigid vacuum cleaner extension pipe and stick it through the handle hole.... and then you've a nifty "spider reaching without going near it" implement to knock them off the ceiling/wall, landing them inside the bottle... then you "keep it jigging", and are able to slide your shoes on and go outside/down the road to throw the spider into a bush :) all without fear of the spider landing on your head.

Works for baths too ... no extension pipe needed.

If you're a gardener save egg boxes for chitting potatoes

We use egg boxes (though we don't eat eggs anymore so these are years old!) for keeping smaller baubles and ornaments safe in the Christmas decorations box.

Use glass jars for small tupperware pots (i.e. half a lemon, or when I dole out plain yog with a blob of jam, or to store weighed oats I'm using for brekkie at work) or for drinking tea out of when gardening (not such a fuss when they get lost or broken.

I cut a wedge out the bottom corner of a 4pt milk bottle to make a water collector to go under the chest freezer when it's defrosting. Useful having the handle and opening to be able to pick up and tip away the contents.

    Guilty!

Bought a copy on the way to college and that was one of the top tips. Spent 3 days laughing about it. All these years later..... still makes me giggle.

We do this too as a matter of course with lemons bought for my G&T. You can get quite a lot of lemon on a large plastic chopping board which scrape off quite easily with a wooden spatula.
