O hours contract

My partner is an assistant manager of a cafe and restaurant. He is working 40+ hours a week, however he is on a 0 hour contract and as far as I am aware he does not have a pension and his employer has never mentioned it.
What are his entitlements on a 0 hour contract? And is there any way for his employer to deny him a pension?

Jobi_ibs, you would be better off posting on main pension forum:

The Pensions Advisory Service have this to say:

I am on a zero hours contract. How will I be treated?
You will be automatically enrolled in the same way as other workers if you earn more than, currently, £192 a week, £833 per month or £10,000 a year and meet the other joining conditions.
