Quick Question

Hi everyone,
I have searched the forums but still wondered whether anyone could offer me some advice.
I'm considering bankruptcy after losing my job in September, and i'm unable to meet my minimum payments and loan payments. However, I have a new job but i'm on considerably less than my previous job, 45% less, with limited options of continuing in my previous field of work.
I have just recently started work at a Credit Card company, and i'm currently on probation for three months, during which time I can be dismissed giving a weeks notice.
I'm obviously going to hold on until I have been there three months before going through with bankruptcy, in case they have problems with me being bankrupt.
So, my question is, what do I do about notifying my current employer about my situation. I don't know whether to tentatively test the waters first asking my line manager about a likely outcome. But, i'm worried that this may place a black mark against my name.
Is there legislation in place prohibiting people who have gone bankrupt from working in financial institutions?
Would it depend upon the organisations own personal policies? I cannot get onto the intranet at the moment to read the employee handbook, to see how they feel about this.
Any help/advice will be fully appreciated.

Hello Muaythaiuk.
I've no real experience of this, but first thing that springs to mind is, have you checked your contract? it should state in that if there is a problem with an employee being BR.
I have seen others put on here that they work for their BIGGEST creditor and have continued to do so after being BR!
I'd look at the contract and go from there.
Hopefully someone with real experince of this will be along soon to help you.
Good luck! The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

Hi Betterlatethannever,
Thank you for your reply.
I have re-checked my contract and there is no mention of bankruptcy. However, throughout the contract it refers to the employee handbook for further information regarding gross misconduct and the like. I shall have to get my hands on this and read through it, asap.0 -
I found in my NHS time a discreet anonymous call to personel dept helped me with my contract worries..We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
