Isn't the company you are recommending an essential oils supplier?
The OP is/was looking for extra virgin olive oil for cooking/dressing - not shampoo and soap or products for hair.
The company you are recommending is based in Pakistan.
Are you aware that this is a UK website?0 -
My preference is for Greek olive oil, specifically Cretan. I bring some back with me in coke bottles when I go but when I run out I buy it in Lidl. It's about £4 ish a bottle but I've visited where it's from so feel a kind of affinity to it :rotfl:
I do still have some low acidity oil that came back with me last time for salads and dipping in bread and you can definitely taste the difference between the two. I wouldn't use the lidl stuff for dipping/drizzlingI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Lots of Greek airports sell Terra Creta olive oils.
We stay close to Chania Town in Crete, close to Kolymbari where the oil is produced.0 -
You are me!

We stay close to Chania Town in Crete, close to Kolymbari where the oil is produced.
And you are me :rotfl: we stay at the other end near Malia. Lots of oil that end is produced either in Mohos on the other side of the mountains or Lassithi plateau a bit further south and I've been to both several timesI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. The only difference is the provenance of the olives, greek and spanish olive oils and it is also down to olive variety, each variety has different characteristics that will be find in the oil. Spanish, Greek and Mediterranean olive oils are cheaper, but it doesn't mean are the same or better quality.
It also important to note that often, cheap olive oils, despite having the "made in Italy", Spain or Greece label are actually made with "European olive oil" which means that olives were only pressed in eg Italy but are from a different country o countries.
Read several comments about strong olive oils, if olive oils are strong then have a lot of phenols and these are the good stuff, if they dont have any, then it is not worth its health claims. We have put together a short guide on our site, have a look at it, italyabroad.com/olive-oil-guide. It is mainly for Italian olive oil but most of the information apply to all olive oil.0 -

That's quite interesting.
Especially the bit about DOP & IGP.
I've seen DOC and DOGC on wines.
No mention of acidity though.
As I posted up-thread:I usually have some EV olive oil that we've brought back from Greece that I use for salads.
Low acidity is good.
I have some from Crete that says 'premium, almost zero acidity' and it's 0.2 acidity.
You have some very interesting sounding olive oils.0 -
Unfortunately there's loads of fake olive oil on the shelves in the UK mostly because the majority of people in this country consume very little of it to notice what is the real deal & what isn't. Personally I do not like Filippo Berio brand as it's mostly a mix of different countries olive oil plus there's been times when their oil has been found to contain rapeseed oil instead of olive oil due to the gangsters who control a lot of the olive oil that comes into & is produced in Italy. I don't like sneaky companies like that who take my money under false pretences. And anyway most Italians don't even use Fillipo Berio - they get their olive oil from proper sources & more reliable companies.
If you want the real deal without any sneakyness then I'd suggest popping into Sainsbury's & buying one called Oliveira Da Serra. It is from Portugal & is 100% extra virgin olive oil. It's a very reliable brand. One from Greece called Iliada is also a reliable brand that can also be found in Sainsbury's. Widespread proper olive oil is really only found in the Mediterranean countries themselves where there's loads of local producers who will give you a few litres for next to nothing. But yes if your in the UK then Oliveira Da Serra or Iliada would be good brands to buy. They're both proper extra virgin olive oil.0 -
I bring it back from local provençal producers known for years.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
