Please can anyone help me calculate my lost civil service pensions for 3 and half years

Hi

I need to calculate 3 and 1/2 years of pensions I have lost that I have to ask my employer to put back in.

I need to calculate between Jan 2015 - to date.

The information I have is that I was previously in classic scheme but everyone moved over April 2015 to Alpha. My salary is 30k.

I am so stuck. Please help

I don't quite understand the question - do you mean that when the pension schemes changed you were removed from the Classic scheme but not placed into either Alpha or the Partnership scheme ?

Are you still working there ? Have you been having pension contributions deducted from your salary ?

If you were in Classic then as far as I'm aware unless you were close to retirement age you should have automatically been enrolled into the Alpha as both are defined benefit schemes. There is no set employer contribution into a personal 'pot' with either of these the employer is simply guaranteeing to pay a certain amount of pension.

Have you spoken to myCSP about this ?

Why do you need to do this?

If there has been an error in calculating and paying your contributions, surely the pension administrator should do it?

You refer to 'your employer' so you are clearly still in service. As someone else has pointed out, you don't need to do any calculations - up to the employer to get it sorted out.

Hi thanks for replying p00sticks and xylophone

Apologies I didn't explain i have been reinstated after dismissal. I need to calculate this so that I can provide this to claim my lost salary and pension.

I have spoke to myCSP who weren't very helpful in that they said the employer needs to calculate this. However this does t help me as I need ensure the right figures are being calculated as I don't have a representative

You were unlawfully dismissed three and a half years ago?

You have been reinstated in the same job?

Your job has been done by somebody else on the salary you would have been paid?

It should be simple for the employers to advise you of what would have been your/their contribution and show you the calculations.

Put you request in writing - TPAS may help.

I'm in Alpha, my payslip shows an employer contribution of 22.1% if that helps you estimate.

But as others have said, the real figure needs to come from your employer.

Your alpha pension would have been 2.32% of your pensionable earnings each year per annum. Then each year the balance put in would be revalued by CPI. Have you read your scheme booklet on mycivilservicepension.org.uk or looked to see if any of the calculators help?
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

    See page 23 of https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/310953/LossOfPensionRights.pdf

Then give TPAS a call (see post 7 above) for help in wading through it!
