As above really.
I have 2 large expensive decorative oil jars that I want to put in my garden but don't want them stolen and need some ideas as to how I can secure them down.
I've thought about weighing them down with bricks but these could be tipped out and a couple of big guys would be able to lift them
Drilling holes in the bottom and chaining them to something concrete
not sure
Anyone have any ideas how you secure your items

If they are expensive & attractive is outside & pinchable the best place?
Only asking, and a shame that "stuff" cannot be relied upon not to be nicked
I think hole & chained into heavy concrete base would be only sure way, but that runs the risk of thieves breaking them as they try & lift to pinch them
Is there anything on market, like a pressure pad, that would sound an alarm if they are lifted?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Don't chance it. We had one of our old chimney pots taken from under the kitchen window while OH was standing at the sink (kitchen is front of house). He thought it was the man to read the meters !! Until he saw a chap throwing it in the car. Shame it was one of a pair and not one of the singles. All that clutter used to be money0

Isnt it a shame we always have to think about crime before we can enjoy anything. I would like to put these in my front garden but it is on a road and I would worry people would pinch them.
I do have CCTV cameras there but I'm not sure these are deterrent enough.0 -

I doubt CCTV prevents crime, how many images have you seen showing someone nicking stuff and nothing ever happens?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Don't risk it. Have them for your own enjoyment, out of sight of feral nuisances, thieving scum, losers, low lifes and similar unworthy types.0
