My son has started on packed lunches. I make homemade banana pancakes for him. He doesnt like fruit. I want a chocolate spread to put on the pancakes that he is allowed at school. Nutella and other hazelnut chocolate spreads are banned at school.

I have found a couple of examples that do not list nuts as an ingredient but have the caveat "May Contain Nuts".
This one is sold as nut free so others may exist.

Is it the nuts that are the problem or do they have a downer on chocolate spreads generally because they're perceived to be less healthy? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I used to buy tesco's own for my daughter friens who had a nut allergy as it had no nuts in, though this was a few years ago , but its worth checking. However as the previous poster said, it did say it could have 'traces' of nuts0

doesn't include nuts as an ingredient, although it has the usual disclaimer.0 -

I dont think its the healthy issue, its the allergy issue. Its a big school so lots children with allergies. Nuts being the one that can affect children just by sitting nearby. I hadnt given it much thought until one boy said to me, that boy over there has a nutella dip pot and he is isnt allowed. So i checked with the office and they said products containing nuts were not allowed, including cereal snacks etc.
I work as a lunchtime assistant so i need to be following the rules for my child even more.0 -
How about making your own, there are recipes on Google. Just Chocolate, cream, sugar and salt in one.
Or one from Mumsnet uses Butter, condensed milk and cocoa.
Keeps in a jar in the fridge.0 -
