so do you know what I should do about my surrender enquiry on that site Edinvestor posted, there is a box with an asterix (must be filled in) asking for the 'with profits' basic sum assured0 -

If your policy is unitised WP you can't sell it, only surrender it, ecause it has no guaranteed value.
However the estimates I did foryou still apply.Trying to keep it simple...

Thanks for your input Edinvestor
I'm seriously thinking of ditching it, it would be nice just to have a £9000 mortgage even though I'll be paying the same monthly payments on a repayment mortgage to get shot of it totally
ps you're right dunstonh and Ed, I've just read the yearly statement again and it says on there that my plan is a unitised endowment plan0 -
Does anyone know a good life insurance company if I surrender this policy. I am 51 and in good health
Thanks0 -
Oh well I've probably asked a few stupid questions on here so another wont harm

What is the procedure for surrendering a policy, is it just a matter of picking up the phone and telling them and they send the cheque or is there a bit more to it than that?
EDIT: just done it... in about one minute on the phone0 -
Have you taken a look at Gorgeous George's thread on standard life endowments to get an idea of how they have improved in recent years?
Does anybody have the link for this or any idea how I can find it please?

Thanks for that - have just read through the thread with interest, but to be honest a lot of it went over my head
. Anyway, still not sure whether to sell my SL policy or not. Might just sign onto SL and watch for a bit like GG, but then if I do sell it presents another problem of where to put the money for the best return as cannot pay it all off the mortgage - oh, hum!
Many thanks to everyone on this forum who give their advice so freely and help people like me who knows nothing about things like this.:TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling.
