This is the key part of the long post.

    What is not clear is

    Why your job changed
When you became aware you were underperforming
Why you ignored instructions and how many times.
What was said at each occurrence
Were you(or should have been) aware that not carrying out instruction would result in losses.

People make mistakes but this reads far more serious perhaps you can clarify where on the woops I got it wrong to I should have known better you are.

That is all fine but, unless the employer is bluffing, the OP faces a choice of accepting the informal settlement deal or being dismissed for gross misconduct. If that happens their only option is an unfair dismissal claim, assuming they have a winnable case. That will take many months and cannot ensure a decent reference unless that forms part of a settlement reached before the hearing.

As I said earlier the proposed informal deal is not actually legally binding on the OP, so there is some possibility of taking it then still bringing a claim against the employer although this may not be easy.

Then the bombshell drops. I am told that my performance is not up to scratch and I have done something that has caused financial loss to the company and that they now have grounds to fire me under gross misconduct. Since my job role was changed a few weeks ago it hasn't worked out and I have not followed the instructions of a superior which has lead to client complaints. All of which they say are grounds to dismiss me.

I read the OP's post in a different way to you: my understanding is that the OP was told x, y and z but it's not clear whether he was aware, since the job changed, that he was underperforming, that he had ignored instructions, and that he had caused a loss.

That would make a difference to how I'd try to respond, in any event.
