TFL compensation

Hi everyone,

On Wednesday morning I had a rather nasty accident on a TFL bus, The 253 terminating at Euston to be precise. I had unknowingly gotten on the route going in the wrong direction and when it terminated at Euston I was taken by surprise so everyone else had left the bus by the time I had gotten up from my seat on the upper deck. I was holding a hot drink in one had and holding on to the rail to walk down the stationary terminated bus when the driver jerked the bus forward and I slipped down the wet stairs and landed sitting on my left foot. The driver helped me as soon as he noticed and offered to call an ambulance but I could stand on the foot so it wasn't necessary, however he didn't explain why he moved the terminated bus with someone on it.

Other then pain in both feet and my shoulder I unharmed but haven't made it to the doctors yet to get everything checked out.

Do you think its worth making a claim?

I'm sorry, you are unharmed and slipped because you were holding a cup of coffee at the time - is this what made the stairs wet?

I assume that the driver stopped to let another bus out before pulling forward to the stop.

Injured or not, slipping on a bus does not equal a fault on the part of the bus driver or compensation.
  • Although I was holding a coffee cup in one has I was also holding on with the other hand and the stairs where wet because it has been raining that morning.
Sorry if I didn't make it clear.

There's nothing for you to claim at the moment. If you haven't been to the doctor the pain you are experiencing can hardly be severe. If you do decide to go and the doctor is prepared to say that the slip was the cause of whatever injuries he finds, then you have some evidence, but it's very doubtful that the driver was at fault - for a start, if everyone else had got off why would he know that you were even still on board?
