Santander reduce LTV then decline?

  • Just to clarify Santander does not use automated algorithms to make a decision it is a human that reviews the application every single time probably best not to make a comment with no proof of this. Timescales do vary and can change on a daily basis depending on how busy it is also having a "typo" in your accounts is a major problem for a lender it could been seen as you trying to falsify your income based on the correct figures you can not borrow the same amount which is why they have said the max loan is X amount I also would not take your broker word for word as it is very hard to believe that Santander would just lose an application and whenever they have to request further info etc it does go to the back of queue you will get there just be efficient when asked for info provide it straight away if possible.

I'm wondering if we have the same broker (L&C?) because after two weeks of no news whatsoever we were chasing them and they kept saying 'we expect an update Friday' then it was 'hear shortly'. Turns out they were fobbing us off and not chasing TSB on our behalf as if they had they would have realised it was sat on someones desk not doing anything!

This was pretty much the same experience we had, but it was a different broker. When we chased it, the broker chased it with Santander, who said to wait another 48 hours without actually looking at the case. This happened three times until it was escalated to the business manager at our request. By that point, the online tracker said they were answering questions from 5th December while our broker's message from 29th Nov was not answered, and this didn't seem right.

Knowledgeislife, sorry if you don't think I should trust what my broker tells me, unfortunately that is what your business manager told him (guessing you work for Santander) - the application was "lost" on 29 Nov. Customers can only go on info provided in good faith. As for your assessment of the rest, I'll happily give you the case number if you want to look it up, but it's not quite as simple as you make out.
