Moorcroft Debt Recovery Ltd

Hi, my wife ran up a debt and is on a DMP plan after I found out.

The question I have is she has been paying Halifax for the last 6 months, they sent a letter to say the would instruct Moorcroft to manage the debt and all payment info and agreements would be passed onto them.
Now before the first letter from Moorcroft arrived Halifax got the DMP payment and Moorcroft sent her another letter saying she should pay them but have acknowledged the payment, even the amount paid, to Halifix.

They keep sending her letters (I didn't know) to call them about repayment and they now are threatening "possible further debt recovery action". I get from reading threads and whats in the letters that Halifax still own the debt and had agreed to the DMP, so I don't understand why these people need to be so aggressive.

Should she call them or Halifax or the DMP? I don't want her to call them and end up having to pay more that she can't afford or have the interest restarted.
Surely they know about the DMP and how much has been agreed to be paid.

Hi, If it were me, I would continue to make payments in accordance with the repayment plans set out in your wife's DMP. It is likely that the letters she is receiving are all automated, and do not pose a problem as far as the DMP goes.

Just checking. Is your wife paying a company for the DMP or is your wife using one of the free services (such a StepChange)?

Debt collection agencies will always run through there standard letter process as a matter of course.

Just carry on as you are.

Moorcroft are fine. You just need to tell Stepchange they are now collecting the Halifax debt and give them the payment details. Write to Moorcroft and explain you have done this and also include in the letter that you do not give them permission to contact you by phone and all communications must be done in writing. They are very good (well they have been good with us). They honour the request not to contact by phone as long as you keep in touch with them and respond promptly to any communications they send you.
