Buy or Rent

Options
Hi, I will work in UK from January 2019, and I may stay in UK for a few years. Anyone could help me, what's the ROI for buying a condominium in London? What's the price range?

My friend told me rent a room is better than buy it in London, but I'm considering the ROI.

    ROI?
Condo? You mean flat or apartment.
London is one of the most expensive places in the world for property. Would you get a mortgage?
Sounds like you should rent for a while.

Just realised you mean Return on Investment.
Property in London is dropping in value particularly the high-end. Who knows what that will mean post Brexit.

Remember that we abbreviate condominium to "condom" in Britain. This will aid your discussions.

Unless your bringing a million or 2 cash into the UK then I would just rent.
  • Renting a room for a few years would not be fun. Fine if your young and just starting out but I suspect that’s not the situation your are in. Look to rent a small flat with easy train/ tube link to your place of work. Work out what it will cost over a few years and do your sums. Are you buying with Singapore dollars? If so the £ is so week against the $, outside prime London, flats will be cheaper than the equivalent in Singapore.
