The longer you leave not taking your pension, the more you get.
My husband also has an ICD fitted. We agree that it is better to leVe your pension if you can, but would have to crunch the numbers to see if that’s an option!0 -
Sounds like your OH needs some plumbing doing on the old ticker. I had some done two years back that should had been done when the ICD went in!My husband also has an ICD fitted. He will have to stamp his feet with the doc and cardiologist.
Edit.
ICD fitted Feb 2012. On off work until plumbing done in 2016. Now back. What you cannot change is the mentality of having an ICD, or that you had the event.0 -
Further. Having a heart event should not stop you from doing things. We still travel and are going to the US again next week.
Also think of the cardio rehab. If this has not been done. Again stamp you feet at the doctors.
I still go to the gym three times a week. You will meet other heart patients there. You will get encouragement.
Good luck.0 -
He’s stressed at work .
he really can’t face going back into work.
It does seem to be the case that your husband's difficulties are psychological as well as physical - if the two are considered together, perhaps a good case for IHR might be made?
Silvertabby has probably come across such situations on a number of occasions and may be able to comment?0 -

I agree completely. Cardio Rehab was a condition of returning to work for me, HR and Occupational Health insisted that I complete the full course before considering a return to work. I intended going to it anyway, I did learn a lot too.
I still walk a minimum of 10,000 steps per day. I don't go to the gym but I do exercise. I also travel.CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!0 -
He did the rehab five years ago when he had the heart attack. He had 7 months off and went back to work and has managed ever since. He’s actually quite fit considering he has other health problems as well so it’s just this situation we’re trying to get our heads round!Blackbeard_of_Perranporth wrote: »Further. His line manager has mentioned IHR to him and he has just had an occ health meeting today where the advisor indicated that she’s not sure he’d get it based on what she knows
Don't forget the right to appeal.

Posts #5 and #10 from hyubh may be of particular interest, including this observation:
A quick glance at the Pensions Ombudsman website indicates that approximately half of all LGPS ill health complaints since 2010 found in the complainant's favour:a sizeable fraction of complaints the Pensions Ombudsman deals with are to do with LGPS ill health decisions...

Full stop. What no one can change is the mentality of having the ICD inside you. I’m ok because I treat my as an object with a name, Jenny!
Others cannot cope once they’ve had a life limiting event.0
