Making handwash

Options
Got some reduced price handwash last year in tk maxx and it is so much nicer than the normal stuff I buy.

Wondering about trying to recreate it. My favourite is the lemongrass one. Looked up how to do it online and you buy a base apparently called Castile liquid soap then add distilled water and essential oils.

Has anyone tried this?

I have two questions:

Why distilled water? We're not on the mains here so have our own spring. Wondering if that would do.

The Castile soap stuff on Amazon says it may not mix well with some essential oils and lemongrass is one. But the websites with instructions on making it don't mention this problem. Anyone tried it?

If you use hard water straight from the tap it will make your soap form a layer of scum on the top.
    soft water should be fine.
  • I've been wondering if that was possible.

I make my own laundry gloop and that's what goes in the washing machine - but I have wondered whether I could make my own liquid handwash. I do have some liquid Castile soap I got a bit back and have never got round to using for anything.

So I shall be interested to see how this works out for you.
