Post Office loan approved in principle

Applied for a loan and got the approved in principle a few days ago and then in the post got contract to sign which have uploaded along with some documents confirming ID/address. One bit of communication says basically just final checks but then another says will let me know within five days if successful so sounds more doubtful. Anyone got any recent of experience of this?

sounds to me like standard checking, and making sure they are protecting themselves
looks like the 2nd communication is a general one sent0 -
Now got another message
"Our Credit Underwriters will now complete their final checks
Providing we get their final approval, you will have the funds in your bank account within the next three working days."
Somehow credit underwriters and final checks don't sound like should go together

Or there's nothing wrong, its just being checked further.0 -
Just to tie this up for future reference we got rejected. To be honest I was expecting rejection but nothing changed between initial application, getting and returned contract, getting above message etc. So "final checks" are a lot more than basic checks at the last stage and tone of communications up until that point bit misleading.0
