Help with Payslip

Hi all,

I have been at my job for 6 weeks and 3 days, and for many reasons I am leaving tomorrow.

I have been given my first and final payslip. I'm on an emergency tax code which is fine, but under my deductions is listed 'Salary Adjustment'.

What is this? Why would this be a deduction? It is almost £200!

Help very much appreciated.

    Literally no-one could tell you.

    Ask your employer.
  • Could be anything...you'd probably need to ask your payroll department to explain.

It could be that they've worked out pay for two months and deducted some because you've not worked there for the full two months (sloppy, but just about possible).

It might be you've taken some annual leave in excess of what you've accrued?

Did they pay for any training whilst you were there - in a few cases employers reserve the right to claw back training costs if you leave before a certain length of service has been completed.

We'd need a bit more to go on in the way of detail to be able to narrow down what the adjustment might have been for.
  • Easiest way to understand this is to speak withHR/payroll they will be able to explain the calculations.
