Senstive tooth

Hi
I am hoping one of the dental experts can advise here. My front bottom tooth has become very senistive after a filing two weeks ago. I went back to my dentist on Tuesday and she put some kind of coating over it, that really helped but I think that has worm off now as this morning it is as bad as ever. I am brushing with Sensodine Tooth Paste and dabbing that on it too. I dont really want to go back to my dentist (having waited 4 years for an NHS Dentist dont want to be labelled a nuisance) plus this coating only lasted 2 days. Is there anything I can buy from a chemist to help of should I persevere with the Sensodine?
Many thanks.

Do go back or try and see if you can talk to the dentist on the phone. I have had this problem with 2 teeth - one did settle down but it turned out that the other tooth had had a very deep filling and in the end I had to have root canal work, so ask how deep the filling is.0

I'd agree. Go back.
Sometimes a second application of fluoride varnish (Which I'm pretty certain is what the stuff was) will be enough to see off the problem.
If not, it needs further treatment. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Hi, you are both right. I will make an appointment for next week. Many thanks for your time. Regards.0

There is something on the market which helps sensitive teeth (prob best to see dentist again though). It's called Sensiblok and I initially bought it in Tesco Extra, but they've stopped selling it now. You can buy it from online chemists.
I use it occasionally on the neck of teeth where I have some gum recession, and my dentist says it's a similar active ingredient to the stuff he uses. Can't remember what it was called as I gave him the leaflet which listed the ingredients:o
I think it's an absolutely brilliant product, and has worked very well for me:D
