Hello Freebie Hunters,
Learn Direct offer two qualifications that are free to ANYBODY irrespective of existing qualifications, earnings or location (well UK only).
OCR Level 2 Certificate in Numeracy
OCR Level 2 Certificate in Literacy
You must give them a call on 08000 150 450
http://www.learndirect.co.uk/
You will need half a day to complete an initial competancy test for each (so one day if you do both) and need to complete a formal computer (multiple choice) test at a test centre at a later date. This will take about an hour and a half. Test centres are situated everywhere, most colleges are registered as test centres.
Good Luck!

I'm glad Learndirect are still offering this. I wonder if they are offering the L1 qualfications too.
BTW it may be that it will be Edexcel or City & Guilds rather than OCR who are the awarding body. Different Learndirect centres work with different awarding bodies - but, like GCSEs, they count for the same.
It may also be worth pointing out that the L2 certificate is at the level of the broad range of A*-C of GCSE. It is a lot quicker to gain these certificates than working for a full GCSE and employers should accept them as an indication that you have the same level of literacy and numeracy.0
