Go direct to HR , there should be a process for a pay advance in these circumstances. Also if you work in the NHS if you are a member of a union speak to them too.

  • Spoken to HR who advised the earliest an interim payment can be made is wednesday. Unison also informed me to request payment to enable me to attend work. Hr forwarded this to managers even though I copied everyone and unison in. As of friday no one respomded after informing me that I will be paid on wednesday. I explained I do not have funds to get into work until I am paid.

You have no money? Can you borrow off family or friend? Get a lift? I think an advance payment on Wednesday is quite reasonable, they made a mistake and are trying to rectify it.

  • So you're able to get money from your husband but are choosing not to?

Thank you, I understand that time is needed to arrange pay. But I have been on mat leave, and have even reminded line manager about sorting out pay. I have also informed HR as soon as I was back at work. My husband has been supporting me , but I feel that the employer should provide a solution to enable me to get to work. I return to work to regain my identity, and I am left to borrow when I have returned to work.
It is hard to leave my baby, but I chose to do that. I cooperated with all policies. As none of senior managers are responding what can I do ?

Whilst it is unacceptable that your manager failed to submit the paperwork in a timely manner you are being a tad unreasonable too. You're not having to use a payday loan or go cap in hand to a friend to borrow money - it's your husband, the father of your child! If he lost his wallet wouldn't you lend/give him money til he got new cards? It's for a couple of days as BACS payments take a little time to process. What else can you reasonably expect your employer to do?

    Quite!

Mistakes happen. Yes, in theory at least, if you are out of pocket as a result of your employer's mistake you can insist on them making that good. You do however have a duty to take all reasonable steps to minimise the losses. For example using savings before taking a loan or, if that is not possible, arranging a loan as cheaply as possible and certainly not incurring unauthorised overdraft charges unless it is completely unavoidable etc.

Obviously you would then expect the employer to take a similarly strict line should you ever make a mistake.......

Sorry Bijoux, but I tend to agree with the majority of the responses you have received. If your ex has been supporting you it seems highly unlikely that he would refuse to provide the money for you to get to work. The impression is that you are being difficult for the sake of it, purely to prove a point. Proving that point could cost you 2 days pay. Is that a rational way to react to a simple human error which is going to be resolved in a couple of days?
