I dyed a pair of trousers last month that I'd splattered with bleach - they came up as good as new. Gotta be worth a try for £3 worth of dye?
You could try washing in a bleach solution instead? They will go more white than cream, but it will take the brown stains out.

I think I'll try bleach first. Then I could dye them afterwards I suppose.

    How much bleach? Anyone?

(And I know I'm a numpty, you don't need to rub it it! )

    Erm.....some

If they were my trousers & it was a bit of an experiment I'd probably put them through the wash with a splash of bleach - maybe a similar amount to fabric softener? If that didn't work I'd maybe do it again, with a splash more. You have to be careful not to use too much & rinse it well or it can rot the fabric. Maybe do a double rinse & spin on the washing machine?

My theory would be that they are ruined anyway, so a bit of experimentation won't do any harm. I'd be a bit more hesitant if I was bleaching YOUR trousers rather than my own though!!!
This is all speculation though, because I've never actually done it :D
