Well here goes my first time !!!
I wonder if anyone has found themselves in the same boat as me with regards to Pet insurance.
I have a Golden Retriever for whom I have had insurance since he was born and have dutifully paid all the increases!. Last year when he was 7 we had a price jump of £10.00 and with him having prediagnosed conditions I decided to stick with the policy thinking that the policy could not go much higher because it had been running for 7 years. HOW WRONG we were!!!! this years the policy has risen from £30.95 to £55.00!!! - their explanation is that because our dog is now 8 years old, the area we live in and Norwich has adjusted all their premiums. As our dog is over 8 years old we have now found it impossible to obtain another insurance policy for him and as we are not able to afford the premium we are now in the position of when we need insurance most. We have had to cancel it!!.
I feel that we have really been taken for a ride all these years. Has anyone out there had similar experience or any suggestions

You havent been taken for a ride
An older dog with conditions is more of a risk
Premiums increased

well we have a labrador and in the last 2 weeks have found a lump that is cancerous we booked her in for her op to get it removed and while she was there the vet checked for more and found 2 now she is 7, so we rang the insurance company More than, and said what had happened and they said that we would have to pay £70 excess on each lump because its 3 separate lumps but 1 operation 1 anastetic 1 bill. Bear in mind we have had the insurance since she was born and she's never had any illness before. I mean sure enough it should be £70 total considering it was 1 operation??
Is it me or is More than taking us for a ride??0 -

older dogs get more problems thats why the raise,my dog is now 9 and has to have monthy injections at £45.00 a month and the vet doesn't ad his fee as i go so regular.Unfortunatley its the price we pay for having pets they are more costly than kids.0

We have always insured our dogs (weimaraners) with Petplan. I know it is more expensive than other companies around however, they have never quibbled any of our numerous claims.
I'm sure I read in their bumph that it doesn't matter what age your dog is -they will insure them.0
