why did you went with the cosmetic eyelid ? I always prefer the natural way. Answer to your question would be you can't claim for damages against them.

Presumably this was done privately, not NHS.

You would have to sue the hospital/surgeon.

I don't think there was any need to be rude in post 3, the reply was trying to be helpful. You posted a question so you need to be prepared to be told stuff you don't want to hear.

Where did you have the procedure done? Did you have it at a hospital or a walk in aesthetic clinic?

Either way, you need to go back to the provider.

If you want legal guidance you go to a solicitor

No solicitor will look twice at whether you have a case or not until you've given the local clinic chance to rectify any issues

Scar tissue can take a lot longer than 3, 6 or 12 months to fade

i wouldnt let them near me, they obviously dont know what they are doing so i wont be returning to them obviously!
I was hoping there may be some other MSE folk who have had similar experiences, i have great skin that heals quickly so something has obviously gone wrong and this should have well healed by now (even according to their own social and printed media ) so i dont think im being unrealistic

I can understand your reluctance to go back to the clinic.

Letting a company rectify any issues if fine if it's a pair of shoes where the heel has fallen off but cosmetic surgery gone wrong is a different kettle of fish - emotionally.
But is it different as far as the law is concerned?

I personally don't know where you stand legally on this so Dizzy Ditsy's advice in reply #7 regarding giving the supplier the chance to rectify issues is something you need to confirm or reject.
And a solicitor would be the best option.

I wasn't sure from your first post:

if you wanted recommendations for companies who do similar work or advice on legal action. Or both.

From one of your later posts you are seeking legal guidance anyway so it would be interesting to know what advice you get.

I presume this was done by a beautician ?
If you are lucky they will be insured and the insurance will be valid . Unfortunately many beauticians undertake "aesthetic" procedures with little or no training and insurances provided by training companies that turn out to be useless.

First step write a letter , with photographs , copies of receipts etc , detailing your problems and what needs to be done to rectify. If you have seen a doctor etc enclose a copy of their report. Ask for details of their insurer .Say you want a reply within 14 days. If the person is eg a member of BABTAC or other beauticians organisation contact them at the same time.

If you get no reply in 14 days you can try the legal route but that may be expensive , and if the clinic/salon has no insurance fruitless. Ask for costings from solicitor first. You can try to force their hand by publicising on their Facebook page your problems.

Unfortunately many cosmetic procedures in the U.K. are completely unregulated and carried out by people with minimal or no training . It is an area that legislators have been looking at for some time . Often there is no comeback for those harmed.

The safety in beauty campaign on Facebook have been helpful for many in the same situation as you.
  • There's always an outside chance that something will happen incorrectly - no procedure is 100% safe unfortunately.

Example - most people I know (the 97% success rate, I think) who have had laser eye surgery said it's brilliant, and I had no qualms about considering it. I met one of the 3% who had a horrific experience a few months ago, and even though he realises it's a small % where things go wrong, I'm still at the considering stage in case I'm also one of the 3%.

It could be simply that you're one of the small %. I hope you get sorted.
