Friday Night Lights Competition
Proclaimed as one of the top ten shows of 2006 by Time Magazine and Entertainment Weekly, critically acclaimed TV drama Friday Night Lights has already snapped up the 'Television Program Of The Year' award from the American Film Institute (AFI) in only its first season.
Inspired by the 2004 box office smash starring Billy Bob Thornton (Monster's Ball), Friday Night Lights has scored with the critics and proved to be an enormous hit on both sides of the Atlantic, regularly bringing in 7 million viewers on NBC and screening on UK digital channel ITV4.
In Dillon, Texas football is god and the only time that matters is Friday night. The time when everyone in town avidly watches the fortunes of their number one-rated high school football team, The Dillon Panthers and their new head-coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler- King Kong).
Friday Night Lights, catches the drama both on and off the pitch dealing with the trials and tribulations of growing up in a small town pressure cooker. Friday Night Lights - The First Season, will touchdown for the first time ever on DVD, featuring 22 episodes on six discs, courtesy of Playback on 29 October 2007.
The series is packed with young talent and is executive-produced by among others Brian Grazer (The Da Vinci Code, Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind), Scott Porter (Alterboyz) as the talented, good looking and much sought after star quarterback, Jason Street, Taylor Kitsch (The Covenant) as reckless and self-destructive full back Tim Riggins; Connie Britton (The Brothers McMullen, 24) as Taylor's supportive wife and high school guidance counsellor. Minka Kelly (What I Like About You) plays Lyla Garrety, Jason''s girlfriend, the pretty and popular cheerleader, and newcomer Zach Gilford (Handbook To Casual Stalking) as Matt Saracen the sensitive but troubled reserve quarterback desperate to prove himself on the field. The week is over, work is done, it''s Friday night, prepare for kick-off with this riproaring series.
