AKA the Coop Bank
Just thought I would share recent experience and hopefully this will of use to others who find theselves in the same predicament.
Very briefly:
I applied for a loan online, was provisionally accepted on e mail subject to checks
Five days later recieved rejection as stated i was over committed financially
I could not understand this as have excelent credit rating etc
However on telephoning the guy in the call centre hinted it could be that I had too much available credit (Turns out this was because I had a number of credit cards with large limits even though i didn't owe anything (too much tarting)
He said write in and send details of current account statements and any other details in support of my 'appeal'
I sent 3 months of statements, details of the cards I had and intention to close them and details of savings.
Anyway a few days ago I got accepted at the rate I applied for APR 6.5%. result! It may be worth others in the same situation questioning / appealing as to be honest I thought once I had failed the process first time round that would be it. In retrospect I have to give them credit for giving me the opportunity to do that as I don't think it would have happened with all companies.
