Waitrose Captcha Rejection

I know there have been other threads, including this one a year ago:-


Technical Issues Waitrose Competitions - Changed To Email Entry

....but I've raised the latest debacle with them - about the 4th time I've contacted them over the last few years, and got the usual "oh it's a temporary fault" reply. I do know how IT departments can blind other people with science - sorry IT people! - but Waitrose for goodness sake have a reputation to uphold. I gave up the captcha after 30+ attempts - a record - this time. My latest reply from them goes like this.


"Thanks for your email Mrs B, although I’m sorry you’re having difficulty entering the Lindt competition on our site.

We’re currently aware of a temporary technical issue which our IT team are working hard to fix.

I've sent your account over to them so that they can rectify the issue. You will receive an email once this has been fixed.

Thanks for your patience and I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused."


Only when dozens of people complain can I see anything like a permanent fix being put in place.


I know I'm wasting my time but I've replied once again

"the whole point of writing to you is to stress that this is quite the opposite of temporary!

Exactly this IT fault, for that’s clearly what it is, has been apparent to everyone who uses the Waitrose competitions site for certainly the last 4 years, probably more.

We are always told “ it’s temporary” when in fact it’s systemic; Just read comments on competition web-sites such as moneysavingexpert, and see how temporary it is."

    This is the reply that I have just received from Waitrose from this email customerserviceteam@waitrose.co.uk, perhaps if we all send them our details to enter their competitions they may fix the issue!

    I've just heard back from our technical team who have advised that this has now been resolved. However the code needs to be input within 5 seconds, they are working on this moving forward

    If you continue to experience any issues entering the competition please provide the following information and we will enter your details on your behalf;

    - myWaitrose card number
    - Title
    - Full name
    - Full postal address (inc postcode)
    - Contact number
    - Email address
    - What competition
    - The issue you are having

  • The winning moment is when it goes through, for me refreshing the code and page before entering anything seems to work, for others not so much..maybe it's a ploy to put people off ?! Good on you emailing x
