Hello
I have managed to keep up to date with payments up until this point but will struggle this month. My debts are below:
Barclays CC £9200, Barclays PL £2500, Barclays OD £2000, mbna CC £6300, Aqua CC £4000, Virgin Money £3000, Starling OD £700, amigo £10000
I have got into this situation by helping my father who is about to lose his house after missing mortgage payments that I was under the impression I was making. He was using the money for something else it turns out. This has gone on for 2/3 years.
The amigo loan was to pay off the 11k arrears on his mortgage but he blew that away too.
My earnings are a decent amount £31k/year but I have my own rent to pay, utilites, food etc. I can only spare £400/month for payments but would like that to be the amigo loans as don’t want guarantor to be harassed which leaves no money left over.
How should I proceed?
I was thinking of sending a letter to all creditors (-amigo) to request putting my accounts on hold so I could save some money for a rainy day as I’m assuming my accounts will be defaulted. Then to start a self managed DMP.
I don’t really want my accounts to be defaulted as was looking to buy a house in a few years but think this will set me back now. I really don’t want a CCJ and think by contacting creditors rather than ignoring them should help with that.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you for your time.
