Applied for BR on friday, today I was approved! I think my case is fairly straightforward, I have virtually no money, assets, car, zero, just stupid mistakes from the past I never want to relive again. Wondering what happens next, how long will it take to get a phone call? I have a big anxiety around talking on the phone and generally avoid using it, so could someone tell me it's a private or not? Do I get something in the post of what I need to send to them?

Hi Shay291
If your experience matches ours you will receive an email arranging the phone call in the next couple of days. They will suggest a time for the call but you can rearrange if it's not convenient. Assuming you're not in Scotland you should also receive some forms in the post to sign and return . These forms allow the OR to access your HMRC and other records, and you also have to sign that you understand your duties and responsibilities during bankruptcy. One form asks if you paid the bankruptcy fee yourself, not exactly sure why they ask this but we thought they might want to know if you borrowed it from a friend or relative and plan to pay it back as a preference. Not sure how they would be able to check this anyway.
When you have the call, if your affairs are straightforward it shouldn't last much over half an hour and we found not too bad. The OR certainly won't tell you off but ours did ask what caused the bankruptcy. Hope this helps. Good luck.0 -
Hey broaps, sent you a message, check your inbox :-)0

Hi, have you opened another bank account as they can freeze the one you have now ?0
-
Opened with think money, but they are taking forever to send my card.
I have my interview at 3.45 this Monday. I'm very nervous about it.
Could anyone advice me of the questions they will ask. The OR is from Birkenhead/Blackpool and she did not sound like the friendly OR everyone else seems to have mentioned! The voice message alone sent me into a panic attack. Terrified!!!0 -
Hi Shay291
I sent you a long message last night but it seems to have vanished somewhere. I'll have another go when I've got a bit more time this afternoon. In the meantime don't panic!0 -
I would second what Broaps said - do not panic.
Our OR interviews (both myself and husband declared BR) were complete non-events. All she did was go through our BR form and our I&E forms and our assets and then said she was passing us on to a BR trustee, who has been fine.0 -
Dont panic, the voicemail i was left sounded like i was in for an ear bashing.
He was actually a nice guy and put my mind at ease from the beginning.
As long as you have been honest during your application and do not lie in the interview you have nothing to worry about, they may question some of your expenses but other than that its a breeze, you will feel a massive weight lifted when the call is over.0 -
Hi Shay291
Please let me know if you received my second attempt at a direct message.0
