Getting Rid of Old Payslips - Good Idea?

Is it okay / a good idea to get rid of old payslips when the P60 arrives?
I know some people like to store them but I can't honestly think of a reason (again, after the P60 arrives) that you'd need them... especially for people who are paid weekly.
Comments welcome.

I don't see the downside, mine are available as PDF and I just email them to myself.0

Mine are only available online so just download in .pdf if needed.
I did used to hoard them though and had about ten years worth. Gave myself a good talking to and shredded them all sometime ago.

I'd hang onto my payslips for a couple of years after I got the P60, but only on the basis that they don't take up a huge amount of space...0

I keep mine.
There a few things payslips show which a P60 doesn't.
e.g. P60s don't show pension contributions.0 -
I have all of my payslips in physical form (and about the last 4 years as PDFs too) going back to when I moved from contracting to a permanent job in 2003. They don't take up much space and they don't eat anything. I've never needed to look at one but if got rid of them you can be sure that's when I will need to see one.0

My payslips have been available online only since January this year so I've got those saved as PDFs and went through all old payslips and scanned those in and saved as PDFs too along with P60s but no P45s yet.0

I've never needed anything except a p60.
However - why not take a photo on your phone and store the photos. No space required, will sit in computer storage for years. (Email them to yourself - or even store them in the Cloud - then you have a backup if the computer they are stored on ever dies.)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
In the summer just gone, I shredded up to 2012 and 2013 payslips, timesheets and P60's where they were paper. Where it is Emails as this is what it's going towards I keep everything electronic in a folder out of sight. (So long as correct after checking!)
I should just go by what the online HMRC/direct gov account details, for me it's the last 4/5 years. I've got into the habit of checking P60's as really I received one in 2015 that I should definately have queried receiving as by not doing so I ended up a ghost employee for 3 years and it eventually affected the tax code. (amazed that was the only damage done so yes can't dismiss not checking)0 -
I wish I'd been wiser and digitised mine a few years ago when I had a mass clearout; needless to say I had to do something last year and it's one thing that would've supported me massively! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
