Egg Charging Order from July 2011

Hi Everyone,

I have an old Egg charging order placed on my house from July 2011. I am now about to sell and of course will need to deal with this.

The problem I have, is I have never received any letters from anyone since the date the order was placed, over 7 years ago.

Clearly as Egg no longer exist, does anyone have any ideas who I should contact?

Thanks in advance

  • To add a bit more information that I have just received. I contacted Northampton County Court to give them the Court Reference Number from the Land Registry and they have no record of it whatsoever. As you can see in their email below, they have suggested I contact Egg, who no longer exist...

    Dear Mr XXXX,

Unfortunately that case number is not being recognised by our database. I have also searched by your name and address, unfortunately that isn’t coming up with anything either.
For any further information on this case, it might be working contacting the Claimants- Egg Banking PLC.

    Kind regards

Egg cards were taken over by Barclaycard about 7 years ago.

Was the property owned solely by you at the time the order was granted or was it in joint ownership then and still is, and are you looking to sell?
  • Hi D_M_E

Yes it was owned solely by me and still is and I am indeed planning to sell. I was advised by Land Registry to contact Yorkshire Building Society, which I have done today. They have now written back to me saying because the date was prior to them taking over Egg, I should contact Canada Square Operations.

    The wild goose chase continues.

The problem I have, is I have had zero contact from anyone for over 7 years, so I have no idea who now owns this old debt, and the Land Registry is still saying Egg Banking PLC.

Barclays bought the entire Egg portfolio from citi group in 2011.

You can make a complaint online, via the FCA website, its primarily for PPI, but you can complain about anything related to an old Egg account :

  • I have drafted letters to all three potential suspects...

    Citibank
    Canada Square Operations
    Barclays

Will let you know what responses I get.
  • I also have a charging order against my property in favour of egg banking plc (placed 2008) & am stuck for ideas as to where to go to have it removed ?

Just wondering if there’s a “go to” place for help as I’m wanting to remortgage out of an interest free deal & times running out!

    Thanks in advance.

Why not pop over to this thread. In the 204 pages there are lots of bits of help. Plus Land Registry post there regularly.
