Simplifying salary sacrifice to 'dummies' level?

    One downside I can see for salary sacrifice is when it comes to annual pay rises. If you are on £30k but sacrifice £5K then everyone in the company receives a 3% payrise you would now get an extra £750 per year whereas without sacrifice you would have received £900 extra. This will obviously compound the longer it goes on.


    Obviously, if you have an enlightened employer they would agree to gve you your payrise on the old amount rather than the new one but that would need to be agreed.

    Most employers use (I believe; even mine does) the pre-sacrifice figure when doing those sort of calculations.
